Sip of Coffee
Sitting in the coffee shop,
Watching the couple,
Across the way.
She took a sip of her coffee,
Said,
I’m tired.”
Another sip of coffee,
“I’m really tired.”
Another sip of coffee,
“I love sleeping.”
Took a sip of coffee.
He took a sip of his coffee,
Said,
“I love sleeping too.”
Another sip of coffee,
And another sip of coffee,
“We should sleep together.”
Took a long sip of coffee.
She reached across,
Slapped his face,
Hard.
He spewed his mouth full of coffee,
Back at her.
She sat there with his coffee,
Running down her face,
Dripping on her white sweater,
Took a last sip of her coffee,
Got up,
Looked at him,
He looked up at her,
She pored her coffee,
Down over his head,
Turned,
Sat the cup on the counter and left.
I and everyone else,
In the place,
Laughed,
And clapped.
Watching the couple,
Across the way.
She took a sip of her coffee,
Said,
I’m tired.”
Another sip of coffee,
“I’m really tired.”
Another sip of coffee,

Took a sip of coffee.
