Slouching Back
The beast slouches back from Bethlehem
Somewhat ticked at the cool reception
It's concept of rebirth shrugged off
The streets running with confusion
A population engaged in trivialities
Slaves to the airwaves and social media
An excess of drum beating and waste
The prevailing ignorance a tragic joke
The beast's gaze, once pitiless, glazes over
Deciding these insects are on their own
Perfectly capable of destroying themselves.

I really like the gist of the poem and the smirk at society and its icons; (Double that for thee Americana) wholly, it’s a solid.

Thank you, Pishahee. Despite the tone of this I really do have some affection for society. I just get pissed off once in a while. But who am I to complain?

That is so well said. I really know what you mean. :) We are a funny lot of people. We get our jabs in when we can. The more that I learned about societies, cultures, people, and how it all connects into the greater consciousness, the less I could be mad. Sociology is a fascinating subject. I see that you're in journalism. That must take on a greater responsibility to find truth beyond yourself. Have a great day. :)
Thanks again, Pishashee. I think the truth, despite anyone's best efforts, is almost always subjective. This can hopefully be minimized for the greater good. It's what we share that really counts.
