Broken Wings

I had a dream of a world so perfect and clear
Woke up and realized no one really even cares
I once had a mamma, who left my life at seven
Papa said she found wings and took off to heaven
The nights slowly passed, without any dinner
Who would have known my papa was a sinner?

Later on in my life, ten years down the road
I was flipping through papers and found a little not
It read:

Baby don't cry, baby don't fear
I may have wings but your mammas still here
Please don't stop reading this, I need your help
Your papas still out there, you need to know how I felt
The way his hand went across my cheek
I fell to the ground; it was never what you think
Bruises on my arms, darkened eyes
He put lies in my head and told me, "It'll all be fine."
Remember the night I fell down the stairs?
Turned my back and saw your papa standing there
Those frightful flights claiming my life

My child, that was the night I decided to fly
