The Infinite From the Infinitesimal.
We are to "do all to the glory of God"(1 Corinthians 10.31).
So in the contest between the two Creation narratives:
(1)the "Creation Week", Genesis 1, and
(2)the Big Bang Theory,
We are to choose,to favor, the one
which gives God the most glory!
What's the rule for determining the amount of glory?
"The greater the feat, the greater the glory."
If I juggle 10 balls in the air,
That's not a big deal,
not an unbelievable feat.
But if I juggle 100 or even a 1000 balls,
Now that is a remarkable feat!
I become worthy of great glory
for accomplishing such an "impossible" feat.
Likewise with God.
Which is harder, the acts in Genesis 1? Or,
the action according to the Big Bang Theory?
Scientists ie, astronomers,
tell us that at the Big Bang,
All the energy in the universe
(all the matter, etc that is present today),
Came forth from a microscopic aperture,
THE INFINITE FROM THE INFINITESMAL.
Not only that,
It came forth all within a nanosecond!
The infinite from the infinitesmal
basically in no time at all!
Now THAT is a feat fit for a God.
Nobody other than God could do it!
It is an apt test of God's Godhood!
It makes God GOD!
So the Big Bang Theory wins, hands down.
Or should i say, hands up,lifted up
in praise of a miracle-working Creator.
PS:
But how can we believe in the Big Bang Theory
When it's not in the Bible, the Word of God?
One,the Bible is not the only revelation of God by God.
While it is called, God's Special Revelation of Himself,
There is also the "General Revelation" of God.
God reveals Himself, "the things of God,"
Thru Nature, the Creation of the world and universe!
Two,"scripture interprets scripture."
Likewise, "Revelation interprets Revelation,"
We should be able to say, based on the parallel.
So, we can interpret Special Revelation, ie, the Bible
By the General Revelation, the data we gain from Nature,
Or rather the STUDY of Nature(science in all its forms).
Specifically, we read,"The Heavens
declare the Glory of God"(Psalms 19.1-4).
That's shorthand for a statement a little bit longer:
The STUDY of the heavens reveals data about God,
Data or truth which is glorious, total GLORY!
The only thing that comes from out of the sky
Aside from meteorites, is starlight, basically.
Astronomers read the data in that light,
Data (in the form of "the red shift")
That tells them the whole universe is EXPANDING.
On that simple basis, they deduce the Big Bang Theory:
Their reasoning goes like this:
"If the universe is this big now,
then last year it was X percent smaller.
The year before that it was smaller still."
The further back in time you go,
The smaller the universe was.
Until it is all compressed, so to speak,
to the area smaller than an atom!
This conclusion(ie, the Big Bang Theory)
Must be (to) "the glory of God,"
For IT is what "the heavens" are "declaring"!
We can test the validity of the Big Bang Theory this way:
Does it help to seriously interpret
the "Special Revelation," ie the Bible?
Remember, "Revelation interprets Revelation"
(on the basis that "Scripture interprets Scripture").
Yes, here's an outstanding example of that very thing:
Genesis 1.3 says "God said, 'Let there be light!'"
But it doesn't explain that "light."
It's very understated.
But by our turning to General Revelation,
In the form of the Big Bang Theory,
We can actually make sense out of "Let there be light!"
For at the Big Bang, what happened?
Scientists tell us, LIGHT was released!!!
At least in the form of heat, trillions of degrees of it!
Infra-red radiation, which is part of the light spectrum.
That, right there, is a shining example
of General Revelation interpreting - clarifying -
The other revelation, Special Revelation, ie the Bible.
We shouldn't belittle the importance of General Revelation
(The way that Young Earth Creationists do).
Apostle Paul makes a special point
of equating General Revelation
With "the Word of God."
He refers specifically to "the Word of God,"(Romans 10.17),
Then he asks, "Have they not heard?"(Romans 10.18).
Meaning, "Have they not heard the Word of God?"
Here's the punchline:
He says,"Yes, 'Their sound has gone to all the Earth,
Their words to the ends of the world.'"
But this is a direct quote from Psalms 19.1-4!
("Their LINE has gone out to all the Earth,
Their words to the end of the world" Ps. 19.4).
Which is talking about the data, ie,
lines of light coming to us from out of the sky.
So Paul is calling the light (the data in it)
"the Word of God"! Because that is the antecedent(v 18).
Yes, we must not turn up our noses at General Revelation,
The data that comes to us via the light of the stars.
For, if we do, we risk falling under the "curse"
That Apostle Paul pronounced on those who
"preach another gospel"(Galatians 1.8-9).
I repeat,if we go against Paul,
we become accursed, "Anathema".
