Male and Female Before There Was Male and Female

Imagine the premordial seas,
Before oxygen came to dominate the atmosophere.
There you are,
As photons of sunlight
Stream down into the waters.
They Penetrate the membranes
Of the original plant cells,
Transforming, somehow, the molecules
Of hydrogen,oxygen,carbon into sugar,
For the very first time:
The process of "photosynthesis" is born!

It was like sperm penetrating the ovum,
Turning it into the zygote.
Except this process predated sex
By, like, a billion years.

How nice to think that the sun
was playing the male role
(A shining sex organ in the sky?)
Before there were males,
And the earliest forms of vegetation
were the antecedents for the first ovums.

PS:Extending the metaphor,
The seas, by housing the vegetation/ovums,
Become a prototype of the vagina/uterus continuum.
