~Funeral~

Dead eyes stare hard
In to my glistening own
These tears won't spill
Until we are left alone

Music stops suddenly
I see everyone is gone
In my numbness, I hadn't noticed
It was the ending of your song

A smile stitched on
To lips of silky rose
A soft laugh fills the air
For a moment, it echoes

Never looking up, I
Know he's standing there
"I didn't think you would
come; didn't know you still care."

"Best friends don't leave
Especially not at a time like this"
He watched the body in the coffin
About him, something was amiss

"The tuxedo doesn't fit"
I scoffed at the boy
"What, not to your taste?"
His eyes filled with joy

I smiled at the coffin
Painted a flat black
No use in crying
I can't bring him back

I looked one last time
At the decaying slender frame
Pumped full of more chemicals
Than I could care to name

"How long has it been
Since you last saw me?"
He didn't respond now
But then I could see

His eyes filled to the brim
Such a storm raging inside
"I always wanted you with me
My head and heart did collide."

I finally turned to him
He looked pristine and right
Much like he did before
He took his life that night

It's sad to see him go
But when he walked in the light
I saw his smile wasn't stitched
And his eyes were burning bright
