Feelings of love
Why is it that I love you?
I wish it were not so dearly
My body tingles with warm lightning
Whenever you are near
Must I desire your touch?
I wish it weren’t so warm
Perhaps then, I would not crave
The gentle sensation against my skin
Why is it I desire the press of your lips
Against my own?
Perhaps if they lost their sweetness
I would no longer want of their taste
My thoughts often find their way to you
Sometimes my dreams are of time we shared
So that even in sleep I am not free of you
Your laughter is something I enjoy
A daily treasure I search for
The sound of it raises my spirit
The sight of your smile
Makes my heart flutter inside me
Do you still not understand?
You hold me, saying not to love you
You tell me we must only be friends
But you do not see what friendship has nurtured
Love blossoming in a field of red
I wish it were not so dearly
My body tingles with warm lightning
Whenever you are near
Must I desire your touch?
I wish it weren’t so warm
Perhaps then, I would not crave
The gentle sensation against my skin
Why is it I desire the press of your lips
Against my own?
Perhaps if they lost their sweetness
I would no longer want of their taste
My thoughts often find their way to you
Sometimes my dreams are of time we shared
So that even in sleep I am not free of you
Your laughter is something I enjoy
A daily treasure I search for
The sound of it raises my spirit
The sight of your smile
Makes my heart flutter inside me
Do you still not understand?
You hold me, saying not to love you
You tell me we must only be friends
But you do not see what friendship has nurtured
Love blossoming in a field of red
