Growing Up

I can’t believe you will be 18 in just a few weeks
No matter how hard I try
I still see this little girl
Her bubbly laughter
A temper to match no others

Beautiful red headed girl
Who laughs and is so outgoing
A little girl who had no worries
Now I see this beautiful young woman
So full of life
So excited about the world ahead of her

I can’t believe you will be in college in the fall
The years have flown by and before we know it
You will be the mom and I understand everything I have been telling you

The past few years have been so hard
Teaching you what is right and sending you in the right direction
I can only hope that the lesson I have taught you
And the lectures I gave
Can lead you in a path of success
 
My last wish is you don’t make my mistake
And start a family way to young
Remember to look at what you mom has gone through
Being a Mom of two before the age of 21
Struggling to make ends meet to just to provide for you and your brother
You’re so much stronger than I was at your age
 
Stay strong my daughter
Keep the path you’re headed down
Learn from my mistakes
Learn to make your own
And remember everything you do is amazing.
