Sounds of the Contradictory
A sliver of hope
As thin as air
Is as taught as rope
From which you hang in the air
The breath of life
As sweet as nectar
Is as sharp as a knife
No longer your protector
The book of knowledge
With its loving arms outstretched
Is a pit devoid of courage
With walls where lies are etched
A horn of victory resounds
To call the triumphant home
But it is not life they sound
But rather the dead and their bones
The gentle touch of love
With its warm embrace
Is but a cauldron of lust
With which we hate
As thin as air
Is as taught as rope
From which you hang in the air
The breath of life
As sweet as nectar
Is as sharp as a knife
No longer your protector
The book of knowledge
With its loving arms outstretched
Is a pit devoid of courage
With walls where lies are etched
A horn of victory resounds
To call the triumphant home
But it is not life they sound
But rather the dead and their bones
The gentle touch of love
With its warm embrace
Is but a cauldron of lust
With which we hate
