People judge so superficially
By the skin
Face
Eyes
No more than that
Mayhap by patterns of speech
How one dresses
Perhaps one's hair
Mannerisms for those a tad more discerning as it appears?

We're
All much more than this
Outward collection
Of our
Selves
I find what's inside
Much more dear
So clear
To me
That what we see
Isn't quite what we be
Certainly not the complete me
Or you
Or he
Not she
Nor they.
So
Hey!
Let's not play
That futile game

I had a moment today, driving along, and this poem came to me. It may have had a little something to do with the abundantly horrific driving occurring all about me today. Something about rain causes people to lose their minds, periodically. :-p
Of course, now that I think further, it could have been me, though I swear, I can think of no reason for the fella who pulled out in front of me doing 5 mph. None.
I simply had to remind myself I'm not immune to stupidity either, luv. ;-*

Amen to this my sister muse :) We live in one if not the most egocentric eras in history. It's not hatred per say it's more contempt it's the how-dare-you-get-in-my-way sentiment that drives me crazy...I am more important than you is their real message. Thank you for this poignant and provocative piece.

Enjoyed this deep poem very much, Savaja. Don't we all receive a personal impression on people at the very moment we're getting acquainted to them? We take them in, feeling attracted - or not - . We do that unconciously and unwillingly. But it's up to us to give everyone a second or even third chance to look deeper into them. If we don't seize those chances - that would be real stupidity. Love this poem!

There is that subconscious thing that happens and, betimes, there IS value in that. Yet, it also behooves us to do that looking deeper, to recognize the possibility of our bias exists... :-*
