My Last Breath

*old comp entry*

The clock is ticking away along with my heartbeat
Tick tock, Tick tock, bleeding out with every tick from the clock
Time is running out and there’s no way I can retreat
Realizing that my time has come, I can’t get over the shock

Each second, another beat brings me closer to death
Frantically lying on the tile floor, as the warmth slowly fades
The final scene in this performance, more tragic than Macbeth
The thought of my loved ones rushes my mind and invades

Who is going to have the misfortune to discover such a terrible mess?
Who will explain what travesty has occurred this late night?
What kind of secrets will my former shell be able to confess?
Staring aimlessly, I begin to focus above the vanity at the dim light

A fair representation of my current state at this moment
A man who tried to make a living, burned out before his prime
A chuckle emerges from closed lips as the silence is allowed to be broken
With a final statement made, I pronounce “I guess this is my time”

Covering my eyes with blood soaked hands I begin to cry
This isn’t fair, why was I cursed with a life of bad decisions?
It’s too late now, the arms sliced open, I begin to ask god why?
Blackness overwhelms me in eternal sleep. No time for revisions

Each breath becomes harder and harder as I cough up blood
The chest constricts me as my heart beat crawls to a stop
My arms spill out the last ounce out on the tile like a flood
The tears running down my cheek is the last thing I feel as I draw

MY LAST BREATH….
