Golden Cracks
Golden light leaks out of the broken clouds
I see it as I approach the top of the hill
It takes me back to the time when you said you were so broken, you didn't think anybody could ever love you
Well, I did
I loved every broken part of you
I got to see the parts of you that you so often hid away, waiting for someone to care enough to pry you open
And I did
Not all the way
But enough to realize you weren't this uncaring, heartless person I thought you were
You have a heart
Such a beautiful, loving heart that has felt such relentless heartache that you thought you had no choice but to seal it shut and lock it away
But I have the key
And if I opened it once, I can do it again
My love, yes, you are broken
But just like those clouds, gold spills out of your cracks
And you become the most beautiful picture of love I want to stare at forever
