Little GIrl

Little girl
Eight years old.
Believing everything she's told.
Sweet and innocent.
But by the end of the day her precious smile is spent.
She smiled through the name calling.
Smiled through all the hate.
She was just eight.

Ten year old girl
Hiding knives beneath her pillow.
Hiding inside her house,
Feeling so hollow.
She's fighting the urge to end it all.
Her smile hit the wall and she started to fall.
She's falling into her own darkness.
Depressed,
Repressing her sadness.
She's smiling a broken smile.
Her caring heart is dying.
Constantly crying..
She's ten years old and no longer feels like gold.

Flash forward six years.
Sixteen year old girl.
Almost a woman now.
She's still fighting,
Still crying,
Still dying.
Fifty scars show how hard she's fought.
She's bought into the lie that everything will eventually get better.
And now she's writing you this letter.
She's trying to stay alive.
Trying not to die.
She's sixteen years old and wants to die.
But also wants to stay alive.
So for now she'll stay alive and fight to survive.
