Deep Scars

*****Wrote this for the PTSD competition but I no longer see it posted

A grown woman should not awaken
In cold sweats and shaking
Due to the vision of
A Raggedy Ann doll in her dreams

Nor should any loud noise
Cause her to search out
For the safety
Of a dark hidden corner

Why should a raised voice
Bring about tears and fears
Sending her on a mission
For the perfect hiding place

The harsh eyes of the one
Who proclaims to love her
Makes her regress
Into that scared 5 year old

Years of torment and torture
Mental, physical and sexual in nature
Left callouses and scars
Upon my friend's heart

I hope that one day
You can truly know peace
