Elemental Tongue, The Poet's Stone
words are water
they can make any belief grow
and nourish any child's imagination.
words are fire
they can make your anger rage
bringing your innocence to ashes.
words are earth
they give trust a foundation
for friendship to take root.
words are air
they have no weight
but epiphanies will leave you mute.
water, fire, earth, air
the elemental tongue is the poet's stone.
philosophers have their elixir
poets have their own.
drink your words, breathe out fire, stomp--
and take flight.
when you have found the poet's stone
you see with new thunderous poetic eyes,
you see the naked luminosity
of the night.

thank you for getting that allusion to the philosopher's stone, I didn't think anybody would get it. I appreciate your discernment. I write about everything, but I get really dark and deep sometimes. So dark and subtle and abstract I don't think anybody understands what I'm really writing about. So thank you!
