Change

All of our ancient hatred
completely separated me
from my true happy ending.
Fear caused by the unknown
makes grown men run for their lives while
they shake in their weathered boots.

They are unable to accept anything
that they don't understand.
Instead of trying to comprehend,
humans would rather just condem and forget.
Without regret, they just pick and tear
at everything that makes our tears unique.

While in our cold, ruthless reality,
we still bleed the same red blood that they do.
But trying to make them understand will always end
with more screaming bloodshed for this pointless war
that our race has constantly waged with its own torn soul since the dawn of time.

We are condemned to forever
continue to torture our weary souls, 
until the world falls flat at our feet.

They say sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.
Well tell that to the teen who's called gay everyday for the way he dresses.
Tell that to the girl who's told she won't be loved because she's way to fat.
Tell that to the 5 year old who was told that his grandma lost the fight.
Tell that to the bullied who've taken their lives away from this world.

I challenge you to make a difference,
using only the rotten words spewed from your mouth.
I challenge you to save a life,
using only cliches told throughout the ages.
I challenge you to change the world 
using only your two bare hands and a pen.

But most of all I challenge the world
to love eachother for who we are
even through the differences in skin color, language, and sexuality.
Don't make your neighbors suffer for being who they are meant to be.
