See I hate it when they say we women don’t know what we want
that we are complicated beings that come from outer space
See I hate it when they commemorate Woman’s day with us
telling us that we are the rocks
we are the leaning stones
we are their propellers
that behind each and every successful man lies us

Yet they do not have it within them to believe that a woman can own a multi national co-operation that a woman can run this nation
they do not have it within them to believe that a woman has just as much
strength, courage,
wisdom,
knowledge

It makes me sick to know that
somewhere
some place
some woman is busy ironing his shirt
fixing his tie
getting his lunch
for him not to be late in his “meetings”
for him to attend his “meeting”
for him to go to work,
for him to get noticed,
for him to get rich,
for him to get famous
for him
for him
for him
all in the name of US.

See gone are the days
where a man is going to tell a woman she belongs in the kitchen bare footed and pregnant
gone are the days were our fore-mothers names were changed
from Ntombizodumo to Mary and Grace.

I said It makes me sick when men say we women do not know what we want

yet from these nurturing wombs is were they come from
through blood sweat and tears they were brought to this world
from this mothering palms they were bred and groomed
