revenant thoughts

dreams cross the sea to join in time      
an intensity unmatched by any before      
I've wondered where you were my entire life      
if you even existed;      
now that we've found each other      
I never want to wonder again      
fearing this world has nothing to offer my heart      
without you      
     
you're so incredible      
sometimes I struggle with mephitic thoughts      
that tell me you're a phantom      
enticing me to come closer      
until you eventually vanish      
leaving me in agonizing pain      
jonesing for the intoxication      
of your touch      
     
nevertheless, when I lie in the dark      
negative thoughts are quelled      
with serene images of you in my arms;      
your fingers wander aimlessly on my chest      
as warm saccharine breath      
soothes my trepidation      
     
I thought I'd teach you      
about an unconditional love      
that you've never experienced;      
I'm blown away every time      
I realize you're the one      
giving the lessons
