Feather drifted in Wind
Floating gently
Moving gracefully
In the clouds above

Delicate and unfrayed
Undisturbed and pristine
Oblivious to the future
Ignorant to life's fate

Enjoying the scenery
Floating from a high
Warm and gentle
Wind was Feather's guide

Feather and Wind were one
Naive and trusting
Feather relied on Wind
Wind loved Feather

Wind was wise
Knowing eventually
Feather was to land
And start anew

Wind's comforting embrace
Suddenly became destructive
Unpredictable and punishing
Feather was leaving

A slave to Wind's rage
Fearful of Wind's power
Feather pleaded and begged
To be released ; set free

Hearing Feather's cry
Wind gained control and calmed
Apologizing and vowing
Never again; I swear

Feather believed Wind's promise
Always to care, love and protect
Never rage or lose control
Feather felt safe once again

Feather and Wind were happy
Moving together as one
Wind carried Feather
Feather drifted in Wind

Descending downwards
Never wanting Feather to go
Wind became obsessed
Feather must not land

Wanting Feather always
Wind became unpredictable
Blowing Feather erratically
In every direction

Feather grew tired
Telling Wind it was time
To let Feather land
And find a new feather

This angered Wind
Feather couldn't want to leave
Feather belonged to Wind
Always and forever

With this in mind
Wind devised a plan
Picking the right moment
Wind cycled around  Feather

Gently and warmly Wind said goodbye

Then with extreme force
Wind blew Feather downwards
Controlling Feather's direction
Selecting Feather's landing

Feather was surprised
Wind let go
Feather thinking excitedly
Freedom was near

Feather landed on a sea of blue
Bobbing on a wave
Feather struggling for release

Feather called out to Wind
Wind smiled back
Watching Feather fight
Then surrender to Wind

No longer was Feather undisturbed
Or pristine
Oblivious to the future
Or ignorant of life's fate

Wind was pleased
Feather was Wind's
Now and forever
As Wind bellowed at the rolling surf
