Slip Away Softly

Oh how I long for freedom
To push past my boundaries,
To snap my silver chains
To feel them slip,
Slip away...

As I run, bound and play
Underneath the summer sun,
Each and every day
I reflect, upon my past
I look back,
And begin to run too fast
I run and I run and I run,
Trying to escape the past

Broken hearted,
A shattered soul
I can not take,
One more hit
One more blow,
Nor one more blast
From my past

I struggle to survive,
But I struggle harder to live
For I can see myself,
Slipping back
Back to the past,
Back to being that silent ghost
A ghost girl, who no one knows,
Slipping away, slipping away...
Slipping away softly
