Hungry Eyes

I was captured with a glance.
Entangled by your smiles.
You used me up and spit me out,
And it was okay for a while.

It's easy enough to fall.
It's hard to be kind.
You lie your way out of hours,
But always on my mind.

I'm on the wrong side of ignorance,
It doesn't pay to be blind.
You play the game so well,
A good person is hard to find.

I'm on the wrong side of hungry eyes.
I want what I can't need.
So I settle for you,
But you temper pain with ecstacy.

Hungry eyes again,
I see them, dream them everywhere.
I want you to be real,
It will not happen, no matter how much I care.

A welcome heart for you
Is a hurt for every day.
I want you to be mine,
But it won't matter, no matter what I say.

No matter what I say.

The pain of every time.

The hurt of fallen hope.

The struggle every day.
