Detention
6 days of detention
all because I can't make it to school on time.
I'm dreading this next day
my 5th day
and before I even get there
I see you walking in too.
You take my breath away
with every word you mutter.
By every move you make
I don't think you know I admire you from afar.
You're in the chair in front of me
directly in front of me
and I'm dying to talk to you
when you turn around
to ask for some caramel corn
just some damn caramel corn
and as I hand it to you
my hand grazes yours.
It's a small hand graze
but even then my heart beats like a drum.
How idiotic could I be
to ever think you'd stare back at me
Even when you used to every day of every year
you stared so hard
and you even came up to me once
and told me of my "beauty"
you're the only one who's ever done that
And I was so blown away
that I was too surprised to thank you.
Thank you.
If there's one thing I could say to you
it would simply be
"Thank you."
How much of a coward can one person be?
all because I can't make it to school on time.
