Simplest Mysterious
Simplest mysterious far away Lorraine,
How the fading likeness of your kiss leaves
Indents of thought beside this icy moraine,
Locked in cliff where the Earth's cold anger breathes.
This wrangled side of stiff and blinking chill,
Where life moves inches under centuries of sky;
Where once its' grandeur brought thirst to the Well,
Brings only your absence before my eye.
So lost the humble closeness of your glance,
When tree-like posed amid that common flutter,
We impressed in the awkward voids of chance
The strange Design which lead us to each other;
In ease without words our joining given,
Yet then without words were we separately driven.

in silence met; in silence parted. it's an impressive sonnet, spoken in a classic tongue...

I didn't have time to leave an earlier note when I posted this, but I think I will now adopt the policy to let a few days pass before making my background story comment on the more serious poetic pieces. That way, good comments like the one made above by the remarkable commenter JohnFeddeler can be put to the forefront without much interruption to the supernal moods gained by the reading of the poems.
This particular poem was written after a brief encounter I had with a girl in a bar in a small western town one winter. We kind of walked into each other on the dance floor and started dancing, and then became thoroughly entangled in each others' arms for quite a while right in the middle of everyone. We didn't speak at all, just went right into it, it was "in silence met; in silence parted" as Mr Feddeler correctly interprets. She did somehow, when we parted, give me her name and number on a little sheet of paper. I never called back due to the busyness of my work sweeping me off to lands far away. But later on, I was camped beside a high alpine lake in the mountains, and the poem came out.
During this period of my works, I was a bit of a younger more limber fellow, and as such was going through the usual trials of love and frustrations, I was dating and venturing about upon the night, and at one point was encaptured in a two year attachment. So I might just have to post a few more than average to the Love Poems section over the next bit...
I am always at odds with sharing my lost Love poems with others. I generally follow the rule not to publish or show any work that I have especially given to a past amorous lover. In this instance, though we were passionately intimate for a brief moment, we weren't consummately lovers and I didn't recite this poem to her. So I'm sort of off the hook here...
Actually, the real reason I chose to put this poem out was I just had to share with the world a poem that rhymes the name "Lorraine" with the word "moraine"! A bit cheesy, no doubt, but I think I put it down reasonably okay...
It's a tough call though with not posting these love poems. I want to keep a sense of Sacredness going with them, as an Immaterial Gift only to my lovers - but I feel that when I pass on, the vultures who might descend upon my creative corpse will find the various pages and copies and circulate them out anyways. Perhaps then, I should put it in my Will and Testament for these poems NOT to be published at all and thus be destroyed - or simply just destroy them right now! I haven't yet, they still exist... I would need quite a bit of persuasion to ever put them out...
As for the format of coupletted sonnets, I will certainly look into getting a few more of them onto the site here...
