Nightmarescapes
I tripped, fell into the mud
Tears streaming from my face
What was I running from?
What could scare me so bad?
That my lungs might explode
But I couldn't scream
As I looked down into the puddle
My reflection without a face
As it broke away and I entered a house
Men women and children
Hanging from the ceilings upside down
Their faces mutilated
Their insides hanging out from them
I want to scream, I want to die
I have never felt true horror
Until I realize after they let out moans
They're still alive....
And I turn and run, smashing through the window
Falling to the street below
Falling forever as I watch the rain go up
See my reflection on a window as I fall
And I'm walking through a field
As a vampire slits a womans throat
Her screaming slowly stops
The fear still in her eyes
As he drinks her blood, draining life from her
Then eyes me as I stand mortified
Too scared to run as he darts to me
I can feel blood pumping in my ears
Know he can smell it, hes on me
I can see my reflection in his eye
In that instant I'm in an attic
Dust and spider webs everywhere
I try to move but can't
I look down to see my hands and arms covered in webs
Spiders crawling over my body
as I raise my head to scream
They crawl into my throat
and I shut my eyes
and open them to a giant tree in an autumn forest
Standing next to me is a beautiful girl
She looks so happy, I feel happy as can be
As a giant mushroom cloud raises over the trees
I see her staring and crying
Until her eyes burn from her skull
As she screams and I run to catch her
Just as the fire engulfs everything beautiful
And I wake up....
Covered in sweat and look out the window
And wonder to myself
If I'm awake or not this time
Because there are monsters
In every world.
Tears streaming from my face
