TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

You needed a role model and a father figure but the man wasn’t there
You looked up to yours moms but she left you without love and care
You feel like you are all alone in your darkest moment of despair
Nobody seems to understand your daily grievances and plight
Depressed and lonely most times you can’t find sleep at night
You contemplate suicide but deep down inside; you know it ain’t right
Everyday life for you is like a battle and you’re getting tired of the fight
Fasting and praying while the pastor keeps asking you to pay your tithes
You are living in darkness; no electricity & water coz you can’t pay your bills
You’re restless in need of financial assistance to treat a loved one seriously ill
You’re losing all hope coz everything around you seems to be going wrong
Disowned by family, you feel like an outcast not knowing where you belong

People say you’re nothing but a failure whenever they see you walk by
In your mind you are already defeated coz you’re always afraid to try
You couldn’t get a good job coz circumstances made you drop out of school
Though it wasn’t your fault but some peeps always insult you as a fool
If you had the privilege you would have succeeded pursuing your life dreams  
If it wasn’t for somebody’s plot against you, you could have made it in the team
You’ve shut your emotional doors refusing to let love into your heart again
Coz your Ex left you broken hearted and you couldn’t get over the hurting pains
You’re in an abusive relationship, physically & emotionally you’re hurting everyday
But you keep holding onto it blindly in the name of love, you refuse to breakaway
You haven’t forgiven yourself for all bad habits and wrongs things you did
You’re now grown but still haunted by your mistakes of the past as a kid

You look at yourself in the mirror and don’t appreciate your reflection
You pick your flaws and wish you could change your looks into perfection
You’ve been waiting for a life partner but none seems coming your direction
You feel like you’re not worthy and you become desperate for solutions
You don’t trust anybody coz all friends betrayed you in the past
You get into a new relationship with fears knowing it won’t last
You become withdrawn to yourself saying you need no companion
Coz you once tied the knots and your spouse broke the vows of the union

You’ve been faithful to God all through your life you’re spiritually committed  
But one day you backslide, coz you fell for a lustful desire when you were tempted
You then turn your back against all the teachings and principles you stood for
You renounced your faith coz you don’t know what else to believe in anymore
You’ve been hardworking and praying for wealth coz you don’t wanna die poor
You’ve been preaching against corruption; you’ve never made a million before
One day an illegal opportunity to make millions comes knocking at your door
You turned your back away from being just coz the money is too luring to ignore
Before you realize you are defeated and lost in the world, losing your soul
The devil places obstacles on our paths to stop us from achieving our goals
We all go through different trials and tribulations in life everyday
Many will be defeated coz their faith is shaken along the thorny way
But God’s favours and heaven awaits those who will endure until the end
No matter your difficulties never give up believing in God my dear friend
Life is what you make it, if you believe in yourself you can achieve anything
Sadness will prevail through the night but bountiful joy a new day will bring
