Keeping House
Flowers wilt on the window sill
The kettle steams a warning shrill
And I can smell cigarettes
A lone white sock is lost at war
Cats trade insults with tooth and claw
And I can smell cigarettes
A table ringed with coffee stains
The baby brews a hurricane
And I can smell cigarettes
She's been drinking
He's done thinking
And I can smell cigarettes
The kettle steams a warning shrill
And I can smell cigarettes
A lone white sock is lost at war
Cats trade insults with tooth and claw
And I can smell cigarettes
A table ringed with coffee stains
The baby brews a hurricane
And I can smell cigarettes
She's been drinking
He's done thinking
And I can smell cigarettes
