well--as to the second stanza--it can be difficult to listen only to the mind, if there are too many troubling things in it. and then there's you, which, enticing though you may be, are not purely of this other person's mind.

the point is not to have the other person on your mind, but to listen to the noise of the night, and in the south thats pretty loud. It also was meant as a reference to meditate.. the whole point being to clear your mind
