TAPAS
Nails on ankles scratch for cures,
For woes and vex that foes cause
And dystopic eyes focus on distant shores
While wisdom waits.
Blame bites blood to the bone,
Blunt words break wear and wight,
Vane wit vainglories vaults and wanes
While wisdom waits.
A life without needs, needs meaning.
Meaning meaning quietude in love:
Salmon, a sip, jamon, a tapas of brave patatas;
While wisdom waits.
For woes and vex that foes cause
And dystopic eyes focus on distant shores
While wisdom waits.
Blame bites blood to the bone,
Blunt words break wear and wight,
Vane wit vainglories vaults and wanes
While wisdom waits.
A life without needs, needs meaning.
Meaning meaning quietude in love:
Salmon, a sip, jamon, a tapas of brave patatas;
While wisdom waits.

This poem makes me miss spain so much, but for some reason makes me appreciate where i am. Oh yeah, one more thing you might be able to use with future word play. Brava also means angry, and exitable

Youre more than a poet, as you paint sceneries with your words!

This poem has me drifting within my own meditative state...
'Metaphorically' speaking-- it almost seems as if the poet is just on the verge of acquiring self actualization...( attaining insight, and wisdom)... the utilization of 'inner-energy'--to reach the greatest possible state of creative power......
by 'tapping' into the 'inner-heat' of spicy Spanish food! :)
(Sort of like 'melding' the art of tapas...with tapas....???)
This piece is cleverly crafted...es perfecto!

Tapas, from the people that have elevated waiting for tomorrow to an art form -
- the place where some escape from their lives, and others find meaning on the strange road to Santiago.

A grammatical thing: in the second line of verse one "vex" should be plural.
This one doesn't flow easily because of its wordplay, which is constantly causing double takes (at least for this reader) but that's an acceptable sacrifice when the wordplay's as fun as it is here. The first line of verse two is a great example of aliteration, for instance.

Thanks AL for this careful commentary
- on flow - I'm playing a bit with tempo and pacing - so work in progress here
- on "vex" - correctly noted but kept in as a London colloquialism - and is of that emotion recollected that's captured here - it conjures "hex"
Thanks for the visit and I look forward to your future reads

Good food, cold drink, pen and paper on hand, what more do we need? Aw yes, wisdom and the tickle of our muse. Good write.
