The bottom line

One who confuses starboard and port
and say's fore when he really means aft
steers a wreck of a ship. In short
it's hardly as safe as a raft,
and almost every day
we have heard him say
that we are on the right course
that things could be alot worse,
that everything will come out fine.
But we have snagging doubts
about his outs,
anyway
that is his bottom line.

His men growing tired of the trip,
would like to adbandon the ship
for they suddenly remember
"tis the scary month of november
that a casting and counting of votes
will seperate the sheep from the goats.
Now the ship drifts into the deep
but the skipper, half asleep,
continues to say,
im gonna have my own way,
we'll stick to the original design,
for that is my bottom line".

The ship gives a lurch and a shudder,
the sails come off with the rudder
and flames burst out of the hold,
but still the captain bold
paces up and down the deck,
flames swirling around his neck,
tears in his blood shot eyes,
"Hold on! Hold on! " he cries,
everything will come out fine,"
The ship rolls on to its side,
goes into a sudden glide
and sinks with a sickening suck,
now it lies where no suns shine
at the end of the Captain's luck
and that is his bottom line..
