Yellow Rose

Undeserving of the praise, but too kind for the pain
fragile and underestimated, she blossomed in the rain
all but drowning in each drop of haunting memories
yet refusing to wilt, knowing the dawn would someday come
everything was against her, or so she thought
in the forgotten garden, so alone she felt
but compassion works in mysterious ways and it came to her aid one evening
in the darkness someone found her frailty charming...

A yellow rose, full of life but seldom noticed
no one asked her name, nobody knew the things she had seen
every petal is doused with care and warmth unending
if you were searching for the sun in the middle of your storm,
well here she is, a yellow rose
blooming despite the thorns holding her back
she will always be there, a friend through thick and thin
beautiful in her own delicate little way, she'll hang on
no fear runs deep enough to tear her roots away
dear friend, she's here to stay, your yellow rose

Not tough on the outside, but strong enough to last
mistreated and ignored, she grew though her dreams were dashed
almost crumpled underfoot in the stampede of hatred
but fighting to live, hoping that one day peace would be hers
someone had faith in her, as she now knows
in the rescued haven, she finally belongs
since love finds its path in the strangest moments, it found her just in time
and through the fog you saw the beauty hiding...
