My Sweet Ellie
Sweet Ellie meant all life to me.
In her tender arms I felt finally free.
But death so cruel, his blackest hand
Took mine own Ellie from this land.
Torrents of sorrow filled each bone
My shattered spirit became a stone.
This terror's fangs, cruel agony bring.
I have tried so many an evil thing
To cover the torment held deep within
With countless attempt at deepest sin.
My wrist I slit to dull the pain.
The crimson flow fell down like rain.
I sook the bottle to ease the flood
And oft awoke in pools of blood.
I turned to pills to kiss the sky
But the visions they brought were foulest lie.
No diversion broke through the wall
No matter how I did myself maul.
But idea sprang forth as I looked up
I'd just go back and dig her up.
So off I set with shovel in hand
To upheave her covering grains of sand.
And once more I took her as my own.
Forever we could live all alone.
Although at first it brought true bliss
I noticed quickly that something was amiss.
I gazed into her once perfect eyes.
They were replaced by filthy maggots and flies.
I tried to take her hand anew
But my fingers met only bones and sinew.
Even this did not fill the void.
My soul was already destroyed.
I knew right then what I must do.
This sick charade was already through.
Once more I lowered her limp, lifeless frame
Into that ebony coffin yet again.
Tears flooded my visage as I began to cry.
I cannot leave my Ellie here to die!
The only choice that still remain
Is to depart on death's long somber train.
I myself crawled into that tomb.
Together we'll share death's holding room.
Now we both are happy here
No longer bound by sorrow or fear.
Forever we'll be joined, you and me
My dearest, sweetest love Ellie.
In her tender arms I felt finally free.
