those words i said
The echoes of the words I said, fill this chasm,
This rift of despair that consumes all hope,
Never-ending cycle of reaching out,
Yet, never quite touching that extended branch of peace.
Forgiveness cannot take root in the desert of my soul,
Dead flowers bloom in the gray despair I see,
When I look out through tired eyes,
Even dreams elude me as I sink deeper in the gap.
I call to you, but you do not hear as you slowly fade away,
Seeking, searching for that one true love,
Clinging desperate, a faint tether to your heart,
Echoes of what might have been bury what is now.
Drowning in the sea of regrets, we share,
Screaming helpless words of why,
I open red-rimmed eyes to see the dreary day,
Wondering why I choose to live when sleep is so close.
