Cleansing

I take the rainwater from yesterday
And pour it over my heart
I take the tears from my life
And wash my skin until it stings
I rip the darkness from my very soul
And plunge a knife through it
Once a hollow shell
Filled with my own personal hell
I let the sorrow bleed to the floor
Run down the drain so I don't feel anymore
Place a gun of happiness against my temple
Pull the trigger and watch
As the sun rises over the end of my bed
And waves crash against the cliffs of my dresser
I'm standing in an open jail cell
Breathing in the fresh air
Falling from my own cliffs
I built so high that no one could climb them
I set fire to the forests to my heart
So thick no one would ever find their way
Drain the ocean behind my eyes
An ocean so big no one could swim it
Fend off the lions and hyenas
Standing guard of my personal temple
As a giant bullet bursts it open
Sending bricks flying everywhere
They rain down softly, exposing my soul
Now only I stand guard
Only I choose what may view it
Looking out over a vast landscape
Far more complex in terrain
Mountains, rivers, forests
A straight path through
Leading directly to me
To my soul, wreckage along the way
I only leave whats real
No more make believe..
