The Sun And the Moon Shine With the Same Light

Sunlight reflected by the moon becomes moonlight.
Christ, "the light of the world,"(John 8.12;9.5;12.46)
Is the radiant sun figure.
While the Church (the Christian community) is the moon.
We too are to be "the light of the world"(Matthew 5.14).
For we can all shine with borrowed light we get from Christ.

Like the moon reigns over and lights up the world at night,
Christians are to shine on mankind dwelling in sin's darkness,
By our bearing witness to Christ and by imitating His example.

When the strong protect the weak and needy,
Instead of exploiting or letting others exploit them,
We make the world a better place.
We bring a token of "the Kingdom of God" to the Earth,
Fulfilling (in part)the words we pray,
"Thy Kingdom come"(Matthew 6.10).
When the righteous run society,
Imposing censorship on porn,
Sinners, the under-class, etc, learn self-control.
They gain the victory over their animality.
So God's command, "Have dominion over the animals"
(Genesis 1.28) is obeyed, becoming reality.

If you sleep til noon,
You wake to find the sun gloriously overhead.
No transition from dawn to noon takes place.
Likewise,at the Second Coming of Christ
He will shine as the sun at noon,
Even though it will occur at night:
"At night there will be light"(Zechariah 14.7).
It will be as though noon arrives suddenly
Without being preceded by the dawn.

Christ and the Church are to work together
Imitating the partnership of the sun and the moon,
Both shining with the same light.
Like the moon reigns until the return of the sun,
The Church is to be as the full moon til Christ's Appearing.
But instead too often it is only a crescent moon,
Shining with diminished light.
