The Pond is Melting

It is easy to picture the pond in the woods
Fading from ice into the setting of love's song
Though such a place may never be,
For all we may hope for is quiet and privacy.
What happens next doesn't need such a setting.
Your hand grabbing mine as our eyes smile light
Feeling your touch and your desiring mine
Calm and yet tense as the passion rages
Needing to know if this is meant, or it isn't
Relaxed in the night's fading, whispering things out
Resistance no more as reality wins without doubt
In no more than a second, you're pushed deep within
Clinging to each other as though life were nearing end
Knowing with our all, that our hearts finally made the right decision
