The Years of the Dash
Upon the headstone there is engraved
Two numbers and a name
What matters most is not the numbers
But what lies between them
A dash
Only a dash, slight and easily forgotten
Is left to remind us of the times
Between those two numbers
The years
We all lived a life
Let it be short or long
The dash is all that commemorates that time
Friends and family will talk upon those days
Of life
The days we spent fighting, rebelling, cherishing
Those days we were alive because of love
No one could keep us down, we are alive
AND KICKING!
Two numbers and a name
What matters most is not the numbers
But what lies between them
A dash
Only a dash, slight and easily forgotten
Is left to remind us of the times
Between those two numbers
The years
We all lived a life

The dash is all that commemorates that time
Friends and family will talk upon those days
Of life
The days we spent fighting, rebelling, cherishing
Those days we were alive because of love
No one could keep us down, we are alive
