The Great Devourer

Coiling inside the jotunn's womb
Is a beast wreathed in flame
Churning in flesh with burning eyes
Smoldering with a glare
This monster snake bursting forth
To devour man and god
Nothing can stand before him
The World Serpent
The great devourer

Lightning strikes
Thunder claps
Serpent rise
Giving fear to man

Twisting scales are as hard as steel
Fearless of bows and swords
He is a beast of elemental force
The sea's at his command
Jormungandr churning about
Blasphemy in gods' eyes
The storm, it breaks before him
The World Serpent
The great devourer

King of tide
Thunder's bane
Serpent rise
Giving fear to gods

In my years
I have seen things
Beyond the mind of men
Across the sea
Against horizon
The sun sets on facades
Of coiling
Devil on the rise
From the depths
Smashing boats
And slaying men
For fun or for sport
I know not
But stick to land
And wait for the great beast here

The son of the trickster arise
As brother of the wolf
He is the first true nightmare
A legend in making
The will of man, as soft as flesh
Those pitiless black eyes
No man can stand before
The World Serpent
The great devourer

Lightning's bane
Churning seas
The beast's name
Giving fear to all
