Mourning

A mourning that's wet and soggy and gray
A girl who's tiredness greets the day
A boy who's expressions are not what they seem
There's darkness and sadness lying beneath

The girl and boy are one in the same
They've loved and they've lost felt nothing but pain
The boy hurting more cries out and can't stand
The girl being there extends her hand

He can barely walk so much weighing him down
She lifts him up and helps him out
But her poor little love with such a dark past
As much as he wants too can't feel her grasp

So dead inside she mourns him so
She eases the pain but can't take it she knows
That hole in his heart might not ever be stitched
But she fills it with a loving tender kiss

This temporary warmth he feels in his chest
It fills him with joy he'll never regret
Finding this love though it may not last
He'll never forget it always comes back

She worries for him even when he smiles
For she knows it only stays a while
But still she accepts what she can take
Until the smiles can finally cure his ache

He knows not what the future will hold
He wants so much so many goals
She encourages him the best way she can
Until he finds the strength to stand

He still holds on to what was then
Together they get through the now
And soon the future will be the now
This mourning shall come to an end
