How Stupid

I have blindly followed your lead
I have let you walk all over me
You build me up
Just to tear me down
You don't want me around
Yet you won't let me go
You love to hate me
I hate to love you
But it's all I know

You know no matter what
I will still be around
Despite the abuse
Every time I start to get ahead
You start to disappear
God forbid we be on even ground
How could you ever be morally superior
To me then?

You know just how you treat me
You tell your co workers
Then you laugh
How stupid must I be to stay around?
Yet every time you call there I am,
How pathetic must I be,
Willing to deal with all of that

Someday my time will come
My resolve I won't lack
Your call I will not heed
Your beckoning finger will not
Bring me to my knees
Your doorstep will no longer
Be haunted by my presence
Your every whim no longer my concern
I won't be looking back
