A Hell for Me
A hell for me and all that be,
Just like me or us
Not killers, not rapists
Not abusers of women and children but
Common sinners of the everyday variety
Sinners with false righteousness burning within
Filling their minds with prejudices
For all those thought to be
Inferior, judgmental or outcasts somehow
We judge indiscriminately
For the fears in our own hearts
Fear of the judgmental stares
The soft whispering and taunting laughs
We assume to be focused on us
Paranoia softly whispering in our ears
Pillow talk of the self-conscious and fractured
We are not murderers of the flesh
But we still kill
We kill without abandon in our minds
Vindictive to all those whom disagree
With our thoughts and spirit
The character dies first
We find the flaws and attack it
Until in our eyes it is dead
We murder their convictions
Convinced they have ulterior motives
That we believe to be selfish in origin
Once we have picked them apart and
Torn them down
We murder them in our minds because
We are able to and
Likely to get away with it
Affliction of the human condition
A Hell for me and all that be
Common sinners just like us
Let us pray that
“Dante’s Inferno,” is real and
We will not all be flung
Into the same inferno together
