Capricorn's Fall (A Sonnet)
I knew I'd find you there standing alone
Amidst a sea of dead stars and dry bone
Hands down at your side, pale light on your face
You've found Earth's end, I stand at Heaven's base
Welcome to The Desert, Babe, welcome to Death
Life's much better when you've drawn your last breath
The grey in your eyes never shined so bright
As it does here in the thin, airy night
You troubled yourself with climbing higher
Hell-bent on it, until Hell caught fire
I watched you shoot across the ev'ning sky
As you fell to Earth and prepared to die
Cosmos in your eyes, stardust in your tears
You stand before me and admit your fears
