puta
(saloon whore)
I am puta.
If you call me puta,
say it nice, say it pretty.
If you say it bad, I spit in your face!
I keep knife in my bag.
you want to get cut? I cut you,
I cut you bad!
you don’t fuck with me unless I say.
and if I say, you pay mucho dinero.
Mucho!
the ladies, the fine ladies
on the boulevard, in the café,
they look at me . like I am trash.
they are trash!
I need money. for my babies.
mi Mama is sick. she need medicine.
I don’t live for me. I live for them.
I feed them. I put them to bed.
I sit by the window. I feel the heat in my face.
God say Esta es tu vida. I say okay, Okay!
…..but I cry…….I cry…
I am puta.
I was born puta. I will die puta.
fucking pigs! I kill them all…

endless sacrifice ... the courage to sell one's being so others may simply eat ...
Deep write.
Deep write.

Excellent write…you open a window to the reader by which "la puta's" life is made real…I can smell her attitude and her devotion to her children!

I love how raw this poem is, the way you capture her fiery spirit is wonderful, and the artwork compliments it nicely.

An intense write and so utterly beautiful in it's tragedy and despair. A strong and grand puta. I like it a lot.

'puta' is a strong word for me, it is a word in my language, derived from the spanish (colonisation). i used that word a lot when i was a child, as a derogatory word. there are many ways of saying puta indeed, others painful, others are sweet.

You are pushing the boundaries here - writing from the opposite gender, from the flip side of 'moral' decisions, from the perspective of someone who has no time to stop and explain her life. Excellent ink.
