Depression Confession
For many years
She has been bleeding tears
And juggling fears.
She lives chaos and worry
Her future is blurry.
Tremendous guilt she has built
From the shame that has followed her name.
She is spiraling out of control
In a deep, dark hole
Clawing up as she's falling down
Hope shattering is the only sound.
No matter how hard she tries to repair the heartbreak
She cannot escape.
Joy eludes her -- seems so far away.
But what price must she pay
To simply find her way?
Many times she tried to buy happiness.
She tried to smoke it, drink it and swallow it.
But it was never enough. The price tag labelled more than she had.
So it was easier to just be bad....then sad.
But one day she peered in the mirror
And didn't recognize the girl staring back
Her face slack
Talking smack
About to crack.
And she knew if she didn't save herself
No one else would....no one else could.
So she reached out
Tho with a whisper, not a shout.
But she was heard
And like a wounded bird
She was rescued
Scooped up into loving hands
And given care with no demands.
And when hope was remembered
She at last surrendered....
