Miles and Miles

We had traveled two long days to hear Miles Davis play

A thunderous storm shadowed our journey though It could not dampened our spirits because we had the promise of that first note

Once that first note majestically rings out of his alto sax, every one of life's pains would wash away, everything that happened previously would be irrelevant as we would finally be enraptured by his live musical sway

All one would have to do is sink into comfort and be awed by the unfolding sonic tapestry

That first simmering note, born of emotion, exhausted by virtuosity then filtered and amplified by the brassy heart of New York City

Just a few months ago this would seem like an impossible dream but since we have found love so much has changed and now we believe the doors to be open and to allow ourselves to chase our joy, so we went for it

As we pass through we get some dirty looks from people though it only makes us laugh, while they continue to mill around in their grim faced mundane routine, we are on our way to hear some of the most lush soulful sounds beheld by both mortal and other worldly hearing

I would not trade my natural appreciation for the very finest things in life for wealth

I know I will never be the same, this night is something no one can ever take away from us, you can with-old your love from me, take away my home and family but not this night

He will paint the skies pure with hope and share these sacred moments of inspired creation

As the sun falls we approach the skyline, our vigor renewed and our pace is quickened to the rhythmic summons of seducing jazz drums

With the cool wind blue, I can all ready envision guitars being tuned, scotch being poured and the smoke swirling in seeming almost sentient in it's movement

This rare treat is like a secret that we share and we stare at each other with knowing smiles

Just a few more miles babe, just a few more miles
