Fear Itself
Fear is speaking in your voice,
trying to fool me.
I say, Fear, I know you.
You can't hide under that mask of love.
True love has a special look
in her eye,
that is infinitely patient
and wise.
I say, Fear, I would know you
even at a masquerade.
I would know you even if
you wore the clothes of all the people I love.
I would know you even if
you hid in my own heart
Even if you were hiding in my own heart
where I am the most blinded.
I say, Fear, you don't need to hide anymore.
I recognise you.
You have been a great teacher to me.
So please, allow me to remove your masks
and I will learn openly from you.
But remember,
you are not my only teacher.
You have no right to dominate my relationships
my words
my interactions
or my lovers.
When each lesson is over,
I must ask you to leave.
trying to fool me.
I say, Fear, I know you.
You can't hide under that mask of love.
True love has a special look
in her eye,
that is infinitely patient
and wise.
I say, Fear, I would know you
even at a masquerade.
I would know you even if
you wore the clothes of all the people I love.
I would know you even if
you hid in my own heart
Even if you were hiding in my own heart
where I am the most blinded.
I say, Fear, you don't need to hide anymore.
I recognise you.
You have been a great teacher to me.
So please, allow me to remove your masks
and I will learn openly from you.
But remember,
you are not my only teacher.
You have no right to dominate my relationships

or my lovers.
When each lesson is over,
I must ask you to leave.
