Smokey Mountain Rain
Hold me tight
Surround me in your solace
Rain that pours through the misty fog
Rain that soaks through the smoky haze
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Than we’ve ever been before
Smokey Mountain rain
Enfold me in your wispy clouds
Clouds that swirl low and white
Clouds that won’t follow us into the night
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
To each other wanting more
Command the hours
Support the gray green in the air
Air outside pooling and eddying on the windshield
Air inside growing deep and low as she breathes
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Down that black highway corridor
Smokey Mountain rain
Lighten and lessen as we drive
Drive six hours through your fissure in the hills
Drive these miles under your breath of mist
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Skin to skin listening to James Taylor
Smokey Mountain rain
Hold me tight and let me go
Away from your peaks and foothills
And take with me the memory
Of Smokey Mountain rain
Surround me in your solace
Rain that pours through the misty fog
Rain that soaks through the smoky haze
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Than we’ve ever been before
Smokey Mountain rain
Enfold me in your wispy clouds
Clouds that swirl low and white
Clouds that won’t follow us into the night
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
To each other wanting more
Command the hours
Support the gray green in the air
Air outside pooling and eddying on the windshield
Air inside growing deep and low as she breathes
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Down that black highway corridor
Smokey Mountain rain
Lighten and lessen as we drive
Drive six hours through your fissure in the hills
Drive these miles under your breath of mist
Pull us closer
Pull us closer
Skin to skin listening to James Taylor
Smokey Mountain rain
Hold me tight and let me go
Away from your peaks and foothills
And take with me the memory
Of Smokey Mountain rain
