Insomniac
the dance of sorrow
in the eyes of darkness
a whisper hangs in the air
and clings to a secret
if tears fall on a cotton pillow
does anyone hear them
do they shatter the darkness
with an echoing sigh
upon a wish with
closed eyes
an insomniac rests
her body slumbers in the darkness
restless
the chaos of her mind
never slows
until it shuts down
from exhaustion
the illusion of sleep
a closed eyed insomniac
physical body at rest
the chaos of
an over animated mind
restless into the
late hours of the night
until it sleeps from exhaustion
I’ve seen a light so dark
that it blinds
and I’ve felt darkness so cold
that it burned my skin
I’ve walked a mile
in the shoes of sorrow
and crawled across thousands more
in the eyes of darkness
a whisper hangs in the air
and clings to a secret
if tears fall on a cotton pillow
does anyone hear them
do they shatter the darkness
with an echoing sigh
upon a wish with
closed eyes
an insomniac rests
her body slumbers in the darkness
restless
the chaos of her mind
never slows
until it shuts down
from exhaustion
the illusion of sleep
a closed eyed insomniac
physical body at rest
the chaos of
an over animated mind
restless into the
late hours of the night
until it sleeps from exhaustion
I’ve seen a light so dark
that it blinds
and I’ve felt darkness so cold
that it burned my skin
I’ve walked a mile
in the shoes of sorrow
and crawled across thousands more
