The Ultimate Release
my words have fallen upon deafened ears
my thoughts upon a dying mind
my tears have dried
and fallen to ash at my own feet
with the passing of time
sorrow has found a home here
and settled within my erosion
in the lines
and pits of my skin
dissolving corrosion
my smile has died a thousand deaths
my laugh stemmed within my throat
my frown has become a fixture upon my face
carved within the stone
dread has too come to stay
resting upon my brow
casting subtle shadows down my face
and illuminating my frown
my soul has fallen
upon the embers of life
my wings have been singed once again
my spirit fractures
and breaks into pieces
to my own chagrin
soon death may come to makes it call
beckoning with promises of relief
offering a selfish option of escape
the ultimate release
