I was never whole with you.
In the distance an owl flies through the silence of the night.
Slicing across skies painted indigo blue, while
constellations stand fixated forever in a trance. Her eyes
beam an abundance of strength, while reflecting the full
moon. She is being caressed by the wind, who speaks to
her soul. He wrestles around her body the way lovers do
while playing lion cubs in bed. They dance in the sky,
swaying side to side making the stars shine jealousy.
The owl seductively falls downward with claws opened,
eyes glazed, feathers flapping, Head thrown back, she
squawks clasping a young fox. He, not realizing death
was coming, stood transfixed by the beauty of the owl.
Admiring something so dangerous, yet so alluring, the
foxes skin is pierced by talons. A whimper is bellowed.
Admiration quickly turns to fear, while romantically
being carried off by the wind. They fly away into the
darkness of the night. Being swallowed by the horizon.
I remember the day I met you.
You stood there staring at me
As if I were a sunset
Your eyes could never hold.
In the seduction of my stare,
You were a fruit
I could not help, but pluck.
With juices dripping from my chin
I savored every sweet moment
I stole from your heart.
I was a thief that robbed you
Robbed your chest cavity blind
Rendering you inadequate.
I meant no harm.
For I was a young owl
So hallow and empty.
Containing a void
That knew no end.
So I devoured you whole
By tangling my body around yours.
Brushing my nails against
Your soft delicate skin.
I played rough,
Pulling the ends of your hair
Gently choking at your neck.
You fell more in love
With every embrace.
I fell further away from desire
With each encounter.
I was never yours.
You were never mine
Except for those nights
Where are souls dimly flickered,
In the distance of the setting sun.
And we flew into those shadows
Draped in darkness,
That bellowed the songs of
Heart break.
