CONFLICT
He sits in silent consternation head in the palms of his hands and sighs in frustration. Slides his feet across the floor and raises his head running his hands through his hair. He doesn't realize he has spoken out loud, "Why is she in my life?". The air has no answer but his heart does. He tries to ignore it and how it races at the thought of her voice, her touch, her laughter ringing in his ears, or the smile on her face. Just the mere thought of her sends his head spinning. The mere mortal man in him is twisted and tries to reason with logic as most would do, but this is not something to be understood by logic. It surpasses explanation and it's not in his nature to oblige such thoughts but he is given no choice. His soul enters the realm where his heart leaves off but not without a struggle. "Will it always be this way?" Did he say those words or is the thoughts that powerful. He knows not what to do with the war within and although feels helpless, there is also a calm that lies within. Always waiting there to calm him. The answer is there...because she loves you and her love is a priceless gift. You never sought this or maybe you did. He gets up and walks across the room to the window, leaning his head against the pane he stares out into the distance..there it is again. "But why?" He hates the logical man voice in his head for it gives him no peace. He growls in frustration and again that peace is lying in the back of his mind. He beckons it forth and his heart calms. He smiles at the beauty of her words spoken only for his ears and verse written only for his eyes. This feeling submerges him in a euphoric warmth and once again he is at peace. The acceptance of these feelings become a balm to his soul and without them he feels lost. He laughs a little at something he remembers her saying and for a moment the conflict in his head disappears. His mind journeys down the road he has traveled with her and can't help but stay in the moment enjoying every thought reliving every conversation. And maybe only for that moment it hits him and is clearer than any other moment is his life, he loves her too.
